Sarah’s Snippets 12/22/2015
This is the fifth Christmas/holiday season since this county was ravaged by the flooding from Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee. Each of the five holiday seasons hold special memories as the region has moved forward through recovery, and into renewal. The first year was especially poignant as it was so early in the process, yet residents constantly asked us when we would be finished, when SALT/Schoharie Recovery would be closing its doors. The answer then was the same as it is now: we will be finished when the work is finished.
So much progress has been made. All one needs to do is look around to realize this fact. However, the work is not yet finished. There are remaining needs that SALT can help find resolve. There are remaining gaps for which SALT can help facilitate positive solutions. And there is so much residual potential in the people and resources of this county.
Like the Christmas Season itself, SALT has been about hope since the beginning. As we move through this season may your lives be filled with renewed hope for this area, hope for the communities we call home, and hope for all the individuals who work hard to keep moving this region forward.
From all of us at SALT:
