We would like to welcome Michael Hartzel as a new member of the SALT Board of Directors. Michael served in the US Army for 30 years before serving in his current position as the Schoharie County Director of Emergency Services. He held multiple positions with the Army and retired in 2014 as a Sergeant Major. While serving in Afghanistan, Michael received the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal for performing volunteer service to the local community above and beyond the duties required as a member of the United States Armed Forces. Since 2009, he has maintained a membership with Combat Vets, a nonprofit organization helping veterans, while also holding several positions with Combat Vets, including Treasurer, Executive Officer and Commander. As the Schoharie County Director of Emergency Services, Michael oversees four departments — Fire Services, Emergency Medical Services, Emergency Management, and the County Safety Officer. Michael is excited to take on his new role with SALT Development and can’t wait to get started. We are thrilled to have Michael on our team and to grow our relationship with the Office of Emergency Services.
