This week, we say goodbye to our VISTA supervisor, Jillian Kubiak. Jill came to us from nonprofit work in Buffalo, New York, and will be moving on to graduate school for Nonprofit Management in Georgia. SALT has been happy to have her, growing through her experiences and helping Jill grow in return.
As VISTA supervisor, Jill has been a great help in building SALT’s capacity as well as the structure for handling the turnover inherent to AmeriCorps VISTA positions. She’s helped facilitate group and individual meetings, driven group trainings, and always tried to push the organization and those working for it toward personal growth. For her own part, she’s learned to work outside of her comfort zone, to try to figure out how to handle many different personality types at once.
Jill has gained a year and half of work experience, a little extra direction in life, and neither last nor least, a few really meaningful relationships. We may not be able to compete with Georgia’s weather but we at SALT wish her the best in moving forward, thank her for all that she’s done, and we look forward to a visit now and then.
