Spring is here, and the (theoretically!) warmer weather brings a multitude of outdoor activities, including foot races. Two upcoming events are the Schoharie 5K Run-Walk and the Scho-Burgh My School Color Run. SALT recognizes the value of events like these, especially as they foster youth development and benefit community members in need.

The Schoharie 5K Run-Walk will take place on Saturday, 4/16 at 9:00 AM at the Schoharie Elementary School. It features a 5 kilometer race as well as a Kids Fun Run. The event is hosted by S’cary Leg Runners and proceeds will benefit The Joshua Project, a nonprofit organization that assists vulnerable individuals through education, guidance and support. Their programs include backpack and summer lunches for kids, emergency food, Meals on Wheels, and home visits for the elderly and those in need.

The Scho-Burgh My School Color Run will be on Saturday, 4/30 at 11:00 AM at the Schoharie Central Schools campus. The race is co-hosted by the Schoharie Central Schools All Sports Booster Club and the Middleburgh EPTSO to benefit student activities in the school districts. Participants may choose to run or walk for 1 kilometer or 5 kilometers. Similar to some popular national races like The Color Run, participants will be sprayed with safe, colored liquids.
