Keep Mohawk Valley Beautiful Distinguished Service Award

Executive Director Sarah Goodrich received this award in March of 2015.  She was one of 18 awardees, which included individuals, municipalities, and organizations from Fulton, Herkimer, Montgomery, Oneida, Otsego, and Schoharie Counties.

Governor’s Conference on Emergency Preparedness Recognition and Appreciation Award

Executive Director Sarah Goodrich was one of only 10 recipients statewide to be honored in October 2013 for going above and beyond during the aftermath of storms that affected New York state including Irene and Sandy.

Executive Director Sarah Goodrich received this honor in December 2012 which annually awards “someone who has influenced the community in a positive way over the past year.”  Other individuals associated with SALT were also nominated including Board Chair Sherri Meyer-Veen and Schoharie Recovery Director Josh DeBartolo.

FEMA Community Resilience Innovation Challenge

SALT was one of 30 recipients out of 1900 applicants in 2013.  The funding rewards “building local community resilience to man-made and natural disasters, with an emphasis on innovation, collaboration with community stakeholders, sustainability, repeatability and measurable benefits to the community.”

Accolades:

Rev. David L. Myers, director of federal Department of Homeland Security’s Center for Faith-based & Neighborhood Partnerships, “spoke highly of the great innovative work that SALT is doing.”

Doug Guikema, Regional Director of World Renew Disaster Response Services: “They are one of the most organized and active local response groups we have encountered in our years with World Renew.”

Pastor Joseph Chu, Associate Director of Lutheran Disaster Response, “had never seen such an effective networking group, as effective as any in the nation.”

Mr. Zachary Wolgemuth, Associate Director of Brethren Disaster Ministries called SALT “one of the most well-organized groups he has seen.”

Zack Rosenburg, Director of the St. Bernard Project of New Orleans is complimentary the capacity of the leadership.

Corporation for National and Community Service used SALT’s VISTA application as a model for other long term recovery groups.

U.S. Congressmen Paul Tonko and Chris Gibson and New York State Assemblyman Pete Lopez are all very familiar with SALT and have publicly complimented us on our work.
