Get to Know Jin Kim, SALT’s Newest Vista!
Q: Who are you and where are you from?
A: My name is Jin. I am a graduate of SUNY-ESF [Environmental Science and Forestry]. I am passionate about environmental justice and sustainability. I want to go into international environmental law in order to fight the issue of the transboundary movement of electronic waste. I am from Baltimore, Maryland.
Q: What is your AmeriCorps VISTA position?
A:I am the Schoharie Creek Trail Study Coordinator.
Q:Why did you choose to be a VISTA at SALT?
A: I chose to be a VISTA at SALT because I am impressed with the work they have done to help rebuild a community after a devestating disaster.
Q:How do you think you will build capacity in Schoharie County in your position?
A: I will be working on the Trail Study. This Study will result in a 38 mile Trail that will connect communities throughout Schoharie County. A connected community is a stronger community.
Q: What’s your favorite ice cream?
A: Chocolate hands down!
Q:Cats or Dogs?
A: I have a dog. His name is Kobe and he is a 10 year old Boston Terrier. I adopted him earlier this year from a rescue shelter. He is a sweet and tenacious boy, so of course I gush about him to everyone.
