Mother’s Day is this Sunday, May 8th. If you’re scrambling to find something to do, take a look at our list below and help support local businesses!

  1. Does Mom have a green thumb? Stop by one of Schoharie County’s nurseries or greenhouses to get everything you need to plant a vegetable or flower garden:

  1. Looking for a unique gift? Or does your mom just like to check out local shops? Well, there are plenty in Schoharie County! The Carrot Barn, Sunnycrest, and The Apple Barrel in Schoharie all have great gift shops that cater to a variety of tastes. You could take Mom for a stroll down Sharon Springs’ Main Street, which features great shops like Beekman 1802, Cobbler & Co., and McGillycuddy’s Fine Soaps.

  1. Treat your mom to a great dinner at one Schoharie County’s fine dining establishments. Schoharie County tourism has a full list of restaurants available at http://upstatevacations.com/dining.

  1. Does your mom like to hike or just like the great outdoors? Take an afternoon and hike up to the top of Vroman’s Nose for a panoramic view of Schoharie County. Or take a drive down to Blenheim and visit Mine Kill or Max V. Shaul State Parks.

  1. Stop by your favorite local museums this weekend! The Iroquois Indian Museum is open on weekends, as is the Best House & Medical Museum.

  2. Want to go on an adventure? Explore one of the largest natural cave systems in the United States at Howe Caverns! The George Landis Arboretum in Esperance is a huge collection of gardens waiting for you to explore and smell the flowers.
