2. 4th Annual Snow Festival at New York Power Authority – January 31 10:00am -4:00pm

Join Mine Kill State Park at the NYPA Blenheim-Gilboa Visitors Center for the 4th annual Snow Festival! Meet dozens of regional organizations like the Catskill Regional Invasive Species Partnership (CRISP), the Long Path North Hiking Club and Schoharie Area Long Term (SALT) among many others. Kids will love Dee’s Reptile exhibit, snow bowling and plenty of outdoor activities like scavenger hunts & wildlife tracking! Bring the entire family downstairs to the NYPA theater for a chance to go back in time with Iroquois Indian storytelling or the Geological History of the Schoharie Valley! Don’t forget about the famous Chili Contest sponsored by the Friends of MK/MVS State Parks and other refreshments will be available as well. Admission to Snow Fest is free.

3. Second Sunday Snowshoe at Landis Arboretum – February 8 – 1:00-3:00pm

Join us for an invigorating day of winter fun. Adults and families are all invited to learn about the different types of snowshoes and practice the basic skills you need to enjoy the serenity and unique beauty of winter on snowshoes on the Arboretum trails. There are a limited number of snowshoes available for sizes from toddler to teens and adults. Everyone will get a chance to try out the snowshoes, but arrive early if you need them, or bring your own. We will all meet back at the Farm House for hot cocoa and coffee. Dress appropriately for the weather and wear a sturdy pair of boots. No snow? No problem! We’ll take a winter hike instead. – but do check our Facebook page if the weather is really bad!

4. Totally Tubular at Maple Ski Ridge – February 11 – 6:00-10:00pm

SALT has teamed up with a neighbor and supporter Maple Ski Ridge of Rotterdam. The night kicks off at 6pm and rages with unlimited snowtubing, food, music and fun until 10pm. SALT is happy to present local area contemporary bands (Shattered Haze & Naughty) to keep the inside resort warm and rocking all night. Maple Ridge offers a full menu and drinks to boot. 5. My Funny Valentine Weekend at Apple Barrel – February 13 & 14 – 5:30-8:30pm

Whether you’re looking for a romantic evening or a fun night out with friends the Apple Barrel Café is the place to be this Valentine’s Day. Join us and some very special comedians for an evening of love and laughs. More details to come. Our Valentine’s Dinners always sell out so please call to make reservations. 518-295-7179

6. Lost in the Woods Workshop at NYPA- Blenheim Gilboa Visitor’s Center – February 18 – 10:00am-12:00pm

Children ages 5-12 can learn about the 9 rules on what to do to remain safe and sound until help arrives if lost in the woods. Following an interactive presentation by Mine Kill State Park, kids and families will get a chance to create their own survival kits including a homemade rain poncho, whistle, LED light, reflector and a granola bar. 7. Fishing Derby at Vly Pond, Middleburgh – February 21 – 7:00am-2:00pm

Bait available on the ice, as well has hot chocolate and hot dogs! Prizes and trophy to contestants 12 years old and under Adult contest entry fee $5, kids are free! Free use of ice auger and demonstrations on the art of ice fishing. Sponsored by Laborers Local 157, Gobbler’s Knob, NAPA Middleburgh, Mike’s Outdoor Sports and Off the Beaten Path.

8. Frozen Breakfast at Grapevine Farms – March 14, 15, 28 & 29 – 8:30am-12:00pm

Princess Else and Anna are coming to have breakfast with you at Grapevine Farms! Including a meet and greet, autographs, photos, breakfast, and a small gift! Adults $10 Children $8.
